US President Donald Trump Affirms 'Largely, Parties Are Aligned' on Next Stages of Peace Deal in Gaza

President Trump has indicated that "largely, agreement exists" on how the subsequent phases of the peace deal in Gaza will work, though he conceded that "some of the details … will be resolved."

"Hamas is assembling them now," the president commented, referring to the hostages still held in the Gaza Strip. "They find themselves in very difficult situations."

The US president, who has been commended by the organization and numerous Israelis for his part in achieving a truce agreement, said he believes the agreement will "be sustained" because "the parties are weary of the hostilities."

Forthcoming Meeting on Gaza Crisis

Concurrently, Trump aims to convene global figures for a high-level meeting on the Gaza situation during his visit to Egypt next week. Among those slated to take part are representatives from the Federal Republic of Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and the Republic of Indonesia.

According to sources, the Israeli leader will be absent.

President's Schedule

Trump confirmed that he would confer with a "lot of leaders" in the city on the start of the week to talk about the future of the territory. Sources indicate that he will also visit Israel, where he will speak before the legislative body.

Significant Events

  • Many of Palestinians made their way to the largely ruined northern Gaza Strip on the end of the week as a ceasefire mediated by the US was implemented. The 48 captives—some 20 of them considered alive—are to be released by Monday.
  • Questions remain over leadership in Gaza as Israeli troops slowly withdraw and whether the organization will relinquish arms, as stipulated in the proposed deal. The Israeli leader, who called off a halt in fighting in spring, indicated that Israel might resume its military campaign if they fails to give up its weapons.
  • The UN was granted permission by Israel to begin delivering expanded humanitarian assistance into the territory starting on this Sunday. The relief will comprise 170,000 metric tons that have been stored in nearby nations such as Jordan and the Arab Republic of Egypt as aid workers awaited clearance from Israeli forces to recommence their operations.
  • UN spokesperson the spokesman told the press on last Friday that petrol, medical supplies, and vital resources have started flowing through the Kerem Shalom border point. Representatives want authorities to allow access through additional crossing points and guarantee safe movement for aid workers and residents who are going back to areas in Gaza that were under heavy fire up until lately.
  • Lebanese President the head of state censured Israel on the weekend for conducting raids during the night on public installations that the health authority said caused one fatality. "For another time, the south of Lebanon has been the target of a egregious attack by Israel against civilian structures—unjustifiably or pretext," Aoun stated.
  • Israeli authorities provided a list of the individuals in custody that it aims to free as part of the peace accord agreed upon with the group. Of the 250 Palestinian prisoners, 15 will be released in East Jerusalem, one hundred to the region, and one hundred thirty-five will be sent abroad. At first, when the organization's delegates presented a list of proposed detainees to be released to intermediaries in the Arab Republic, they requested the freeing of well-known individuals such as Marwan Barghouti. But, the prime minister's team confirmed it will not agree to free him.
