The Red Devils Set to Sign Germany Striker Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants
The Women's Super League club are finalising sealing the deal for prolific German forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Major Acquisition for the WSL Side
Schüller, who has half a year remaining on her deal, has been a consistent goal-getter for both club and country. Having scored more than 100 goals for Bayern and found the net 54 times in 82 caps for her country. This signing will be seen as a major coup for the WSL side.
Departure from Bayern was expected since she appeared to be holding back emotions while applauding the club's fans following a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
It was reported in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its leading forwards. Per reports, all the paperwork for the move are now finalised.
Reliable Goal Threat to Strengthen the Attack
The 28-year-old’s arrival should represent a significant uplift to the team's attacking options. She has been remarkably consistent with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.
- Over seven straight seasons, including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She won the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.
Building Steam at Carrington
Securing the German international coincides with a period when United seem to be gathering positive momentum.
Recent performances include qualifying for the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The acquisition of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since arriving in 2023.
On Miyazawa’s new deal, a club official stated: “Miyazawa is now a critical component to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and technical ability enables her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.”
The new defender, having joined from a club in the NWSL, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have progressed in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the Champions League.”
