The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years since the first Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
