Real Madrid's Trent Alexander-Arnold Might Face His Former Club in Forthcoming European Match

The English defender in action

The Spanish giants acquired Trent Alexander-Arnold on a multi-year deal

The defender's rehabilitation is progressing according to plan, raising hope that the Real Madrid defender may return in time to play against his former club Liverpool in November's Champions League tie.

The 27-year-old international sustained a hamstring injury during a match against French club Marseille in the initial phase of the tournament on 16 September.

Alexander-Arnold exited the pitch in the early stages, with early indications pointing to a potential layoff of as long as six weeks.

Real Madrid are scheduled to play at Liverpool on November 4 for the Champions League fixture—just over a month after the injury took place.

Reports close to the situation indicate that the player's recovery is advancing positively, and there is expectation that Alexander-Arnold might make his first return to Liverpool's stadium since signing for Real Madrid in the summer.

A devoted Liverpool fan, Alexander-Arnold previously remarked that leaving the club he entered as a six-year-old academy talent was the "toughest decision he has ever taken."

During his time with the Reds, Alexander-Arnold accumulated 354 appearances, helping claim two English top-flight titles, a European Cup, and the domestic cup.

After moving to the Spanish capital, Alexander-Arnold has played on five occasions across various tournaments, logging over two and a half hours of game time.
