'People are fearful' - why 'juggernaut' Arsenal are the team to beat.

It's clear why Arsenal have become many people's favorites to claim the Premier League this season.

Examine their results against Fulham and Crystal Palace in contrast with those same matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have overcome all of them this time around, but lost 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race last season.

Defensive Prowess

Arsenal's backline resilience is a key reason why they are appearing strong to ultimately achieve their title target.

They stand first for unbreached games (6), goals conceded (3), opposition efforts (72), quality opportunities against (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is possibly the finest in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Excellence

Their effectiveness from free kicks is widely recognized, but competing clubs still don't know how to neutralize the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, several additional than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just fearful of them and it is wonderful to see."

Championship Claims

What is even more impressive about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City at home - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they maintain victories, their long-standing opponents face difficulties. This marks the premier instance at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on boss Mikel Arteta at the outset, having invested around £250m on eight summer signings in quest of that long-awaited first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far yielded results in style, with his side second top scorers in the league and boasting the strongest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Clean sheets in each of their last three Premier League games
  • Nearly 6.5 hours without allowing a goal
  • Only a handful of concessions in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and pundits have characterized Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now performing with confidence and determination.
