Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
