Turning to the American Football Conference, postseason landscape is thoroughly confusing. The four teams leading their divisions after ten games: the Colts, Patriots, Broncos (each with 8-2 records) along with Pittsburgh (5-4 record). Take another look. Not the Chiefs. Buffalo is missing. Not the Ravens or Bengals. The traditional powers, supported by premier quarterback talent, display either significant personnel gaps or have been hit by injuries.

Now they’re youthful, quick and confident. Still, it’s hard to ignore the weakness of New England's opponents. They've encountered the least challenging lineup throughout football, yet vulnerabilities remain. Drake Maye has been sacked on 35 occasions – ranking second league-wide – and some of the shots he absorbed on Sunday appeared dangerous. Over time, that punishment compounds.

Denver Analysis

The Broncos hold also 8-2, and it still feels as if they’re holding their breath. The Denver signal-caller has performed unevenly, and the offense plodding, while the defensive unit provides the majority of the work. Without serviceable quarterback play, Denver cannot intimidate playoff opponents. Los Angeles remains nearby in the AFC West at 7-2, yet medical problems along their offensive line will make it tough to achieve championship contention.

Steelers Examination

Then we have the Steelers, surprisingly atop the AFC North despite being thumped a 25-10 defeat from the Chargers on Sunday night. They've been outscored overall, their defense too often disappears, and the QB's current constraints given his veteran status regularly manifest. They maintain a 5-4 record while surviving, yet Baltimore, with Lamar Jackson healthy again with manageable games ahead, are riding a three-game streak. This development isn't entirely shocking that the Ravens have narrowed the gap to just one game, though the speed of this shift is an indictment of Pittsburgh's fluctuating form. The fact Baltimore began with a 1-5 record yet still appear capable of division victory reveals much about the conference as a whole.

Historical Favorites

The Ravens' form part among three elite teams – together with Bills and Chiefs – powered by their MVP quarterbacks, who could still create the highest anxiety among competitors if they qualified. They're the teams everyone hopes to avoid, yet Kansas City and Buffalo cannot get out of their own way.

Bills Struggles

Last week, the Bills were riding high following victory over Kansas City. During Sunday's action they experienced among the season's worst defeats during the campaign.
