Former Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have stated that a former physician now faces charges for committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
