Former Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a former physician now faces charges for committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
