Canada's Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Showdown Versus defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Astros securing the championship in the 2017 season.

The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their first World Series since 1993 by beating the Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

Behind three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run homer in the seventh frame, propelling the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a four games to three triumph in the series. They will now face the defending champions, the team that is the reigning title, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"It's incredible for our team, the city, Canada," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "What an unbelievable moment."

Springer has now hit 23 total post-season home runs, making him third all-time trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).

"I can't think of another player anywhere that I'd prefer in that moment other than Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, who had led the early in the series, remain the one club yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "there's no question that it's painful" in the wake of his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their performance throughout the year.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this one," he remarked.

Toronto claimed the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Dodgers in the first game on Friday.
